Wesley's Half Birthday!

WOW . . . I can't believe Wesley is already 6 months old. It is crazy, how fast he has grown up. He is sitting on his own and rolling over. He started eating "real food" about 2 weeks ago. I just took him for his 6 month check-up and he weighed 16lbs. He is so much bigger than Lydia was. Pretty soon, he isn't going to be a baby anymore. His pediatrician said to start teaching him the crawling motions . . . what . . . crawling already. NOOOOO!

No Screaming!

I wasn't sure how my kids would react seeing Santa Claus, and I'm glad to say there was no screaming or crying. This is actually the first time Lydia has really seen or sat on Santa's lap so I wasn't sure what would happen. The first time you say? Yeah, I know she is almost 4 and no Santa . . . what a bad Mom. We just never made it to see him. Oh well. She did tell Santa what she wanted for Christmas . . . a baby that pees. Don't we already have one of those, and his name is Wesley?

A New Addition

No, I'm not pregnant again, . . . thank goodness. After one really long month, we have finally purchased a car. If all you remember, Rafael was in an accident a month ago and his car was totaled. I have to say, . . . I love the new car, but I absolutely hate car shopping. This fact added to the fact that it took the insurance company three weeks to pay us out for his wrecked car and to decide to get us a rental car, just about threw me into a fit. I'm so glad it is done. Now we just need to spruce up the car with some nice rims and get the windows tinted. I can already tell that this car is going to be Rafael's pride and joy, and maybe mine on occasion.

Yummy Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving at the Funke's home, as always. All of the food was great and the kids had fun playing together. The best for me is that I still have never had to cook a turkey for Thanksgiving. We have a lot to be thankful for this year and have been very blessed as a family. Here are a few pictures of us all chowing down on the feast.

5 Months Old?

What happened to my newborn? It is crazy how fast he has grown. He is such a fun, loving and happy baby.

Darn He Is Handsome

I have to say . . . I think my Wesley is darn cute! Maybe I'm just biased, being his Mom and all. I had to take a few pictures of him in his church clothes this last Sunday to share. He is starting to look so much older already.

Update on Lydia

Lydia is doing much better after the accident. Her cut is healing well and the stitches are all gone now. We are still trying to keep her from being too crazy, so we don't have to revisit the hospital.

Halloween

We got home from the hospital just in time to be able to celebrate Halloween. Lydia was excited to get her mouse costume on and head out for some candy. We had Aaron, Debbie and Sabrina over to trick or treat with.
Wesley as a dalmation.

Lydia in her mouse costume.

Sabrina was Cassie the dragon and Debbie was a pumpkin.

I of course was a witch but I didn't have enough time to put on all my makeup again so I'll just have to wait until next year. This year we had planned on doing a spook alley in our garage but we had to forget that idea and just put all of our decorations in the yard. It worked out great and I think all the little kids loved it. Here is a little taste of our yard.

Car Accident

We had a scary moment in our family this last Wednesday night. Lydia and Rafael were in a car accident near our home. Rafael had lots of bumps and bruises but is doing well. Lydia on the other hand, had a huge cut on her forehead. She was taken to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake. She ended up having a plastic surgeon work on her and got about 60 stitches. She had to stay in the hospital for 3 days and we were finally able to take her home on Halloween . . . just in time for trick or treating. The doctors said she needs to take it easy for the next few weeks. Try making a 3 year old sit still for just 5 minutes!!! She is doing well now and hopefully we can keep her tame for the next few weeks.

Ward Halloween Party

I love Halloween and decided this year I would "really" dress up. I decided to be a witch and got to test out my costume at the Ward Halloween party. It seemed to be a hit because a lot of people didn't even know who I was!

Lydia was my cute little mouse. Wesley was a dalmation and Rafael was a motocross rider. We had a great time. I didn't get a picture of Wesley and Rafael so I will have to take some on Halloween.

Wesley is growing up

Here are a few pictures of Wesley. He is growing up so fast.

Wesley loves his swing and falls asleep in it often.

We just got out the excersaucer for him to start playing in and he loves it. Although we have to put a bib on him because he drools so much while he is playing.

Park City

Rafael had a conference in Park City last week, so we decided to join him on the trip. Lydia, Wesley and I were able to hang out at the hotel, watch movies, paint pictures, play at the park and just spend time together while Rafael was at his conference. It was nice to get away just for a few days.

It's Halloween Time!

I love Halloween! To kick start the Halloween season, some friends and I took a trip to Gardner Village to visit all the witches there. The kids had to find 14 different witches to earn a cookie from the bakery.

Lydia decided at the last minute she didn't want to be in the picture, thus her weird pose! The kids also got to feed the ducks and fish in the pond, while we were there.

We had a great time there during one of the last days of nice weather! The countdown begins until Halloween!

Wesley Is 3 Months Old.

Wesley turned 3 months old on September 20th. The time has gone so fast and he has grown so much in the last 3 months. He is still a really great baby and we love having him in our family.

Trip to the Zoo

We went to Hogle Zoo last week with some friends in the ward. It was a lot of fun because the animals were actually out and moving around. Lydia had a great time and Wesley slept the entire time we were at the zoo. Can't get much better than that!

Pictures of our zoo trip.

Who Remembers Ice Blocking?

A bunch of friends from our ward decided it would be a great idea to go ice blocking for Family Home Evening. We got 8 blocks of ice and headed for the park. The kids had a ton of fun and yes the adults did too. I have to say, my butt was a little sore from wiping out, but it was all worth it. Next time, we'll have to find an even bigger hill.
Lydia riding with Daddy.
The men taking a ride together. This was probably the funniest scene of the night, especially when they wiped out at the bottom. Gotta love the dads . . . always entertaining.

Happy Birthday Rafael!

Happy Birthday Rafael!!
Rafael turned 31 on September 3rd! We had some friends over for pizza and some cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. We are lucky to have Rafael in our lives and love him very much!

Wesley's First Trip

We decided to head out to 5 mile pass on Labor Day to go 4 wheeling with some friends. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to take Wesley and go out with everyone, but I decided before we left to put him in a front baby carrier and do a trial run down our street. He didn't seem to mind so I decided I would try when we got there. I bundled him all up, got him strapped in and we headed out. Well, . . . he slept almost the entire time. When he did wake up, he just looked around and then fell asleep again. So, I am going to say it was a success! We had a lot of fun as a family and hanging out with our friends. We can't wait to head out again.

I Love Computers . . . When They Work.

Computers are a great addition to our lives and help us accomplish a lot of tasks, but when they decide to quit working . . . not good. Let's just say it wasn't pretty. I wanted to throw the computer out the door and pound it into a million pieces or run it over with our truck, but my better judgement stopped me and we have decided to see if we can fix it, plus I didn't want my neighbors to think I had all of the sudden gone insane or become violent. It was a laptop so if it can be fixed we will just keep it as a backup computer. I am now typing from our new computer that, if it knows what is good for it, better work perfectly for at least the next 5-7 years.

Big Sister Lydia

Lydia loves being a big sister. She wants to touch, hold, kiss and love Wesley all the time. She really has been a great help except for those occasions when she literally can't stop herself from touching him (usually when he is asleep). She just loves him so much, she can't get enough.

I don't think Wesley always appreciates all the love from her, but hey what are big sisters for? Obviously to terrorize their little brothers!

I am really lucky to have two great kids and I love them to death.

Smiles

I know every parent loves when their new baby begins to smile and I am definitely no exception. Wesley began smiling (while awake) at us about 2 weeks ago. Of course now, we make the most ridiculous faces and make ridiculous noises just to get him to smile. I think he is just laughing at us and thinking to himself . . . who are these crazy people and do they know how dumb they look?
I love his dimples and his double chin!

Anyone Need a Gallbladder?

Okay, so you probably wouldn't want mine, and as it turns out, nobody really "needs" their gallbladder. I had a cholecystectemy (gallbladder removal) last Friday because I had gallstones which were causing me to have gallbladder attacks . . . not enjoyable. I was feeling pretty good for about three days and then things began to go downhill. Apparently if you don't have a BM (bowel movement) for several days, things tend to not work as well and thus my colon became inflamed . . . which in turn caused me so much pain for two days that I wanted to die. Thanks to many, many laxatives, I think that problem has been mostly corrected and I am feeling much better. I still have some pain, which if it continues, I will have to have a CT Scan, but lets just hope it was the poop issue. I will save all of you from any more disgusting news by not posting a picture of one of the gallstones I had them save for me. Yes, that's what I said, I had them save one for me so I could see what it looked like. Happy pooping everyone!!

Wesley's Blessing

We were lucky enough to be able to bless Wesley on Wednesday evening while family was in town. Rafael gave him a wonderful blessing and we were able to enjoy a bunch of desserts after. It was so much fun to have everyone there. Wesley is such a great baby and we love him so much.

Baby Doll Wesley?

No, I didn't let Lydia put Wesley in her babydoll stroller herself, I actually volunteered him for the torture. Lydia and her friend, Allie, thought it was funny and wanted to push him around the house, but of course I didn't let them. As you can see from the picture, I don't think Wesley appreciated it.

Uh Oh! Do We have a Cheerleader?

Lydia was given the "Bella-Dancerella" Cheerleading kit from a friend of ours. It included a DVD to teach her how to do some cheerleading moves (which I have no expertise in), a set of pom, poms, a CD with music, a cheerleading mat and a baton. She does love it so, . . . I may have a cheerleader on my hands.

Singing in the Rain

Okay not really singing, but Lydia saw that it was raining and ran to put her bathing suit on. Then she asked if she could have the umbrella to go play in the rain. She had a good time for the 5 mintues it rained.

Not quite the correct use, but hey I guess it was fun!

My Chunky Monkey

I know I have a lot of pictures of Lydia on here, so I thought I would share the space with Wesley. Here is a new picture of Wesley, and as you can see he is becoming my "little chunky monkey". He has gained a lot of weight in the past 5 weeks. He is still such a great baby and we love him so much.

Fun at the Splash Park

We are very lucky to have a "splash park" right by our house. The splash park has a whole bunch of water spouts and sprayers for the kids to run through. The Funke's and Coleman's met us at the splash park to play one last time before the Coleman's headed back to Arizona.

Lydia and Drew ran around hand in hand for a little while, but she had a great time playing in the water with all her cousins. The splash park also has a regular playground and the kids were able to spend some time playing on that as well.

Marissa is the greatest help with all the kids and Lydia loves playing with her. Lydia spent a lot of time running through the water with her. Here is a quick video of Lydia and Marissa running through the water.
