Draper Temple Open House

Lydia, Wesley and I took a trip last week to go through the Draper Temple. We were able to go with my neighbor and her kids. Lydia was so excited to go through the temple, but I think she actually liked the bus ride the most. She carried her little pamphlet around the temple and would look at the pictures and let me know when we got to a room that was in the pamphlet. By the end of the tour, I think she was over it and as you can tell from the picture, even a cookie and little water couldn't make her be happy anymore.

YOU DID WHAT?

My sweet little Lydia told me she wanted bangs like Mommy has (which I have a tiny bit of small side bangs) for awhile now. I told her that she looked so cute without bangs and thought she agreed. As I was working at the computer the other day, she came in and said," Mommy I have long hair" to which I said okay sure. She left, I guess liking my answer and then came back about 3 minutes later and said, "Mommy, I have short hair." I looked over and I think the words that came out of my mouth were, "What did you do?" I freaked out a bit and I'm pretty sure that's why she immediately turned red and started bawling. Of course I felt bad for my reaction but at the same time, I think it made an impression on her because she has said to me plenty of times since the incident that we don't cut our own hair. We were able to go to get her hair cut short and now it doesn't look bad, except that she has bangs . . . she actually did a pretty good job at cutting her own, so I guess I have to give her some credit. Here is a picture of the hair she cut off, which she nicely cut over our bathroom trash, so there was no hair on the floor.
And here is a picture of Lydia, right after the incident.

Like I said, she did pretty good. It could have been worse, . . . much worse.

Wesley is movin' and a shakin'

Wesley reached quite a few milestones this past week. On Monday, I decided to check to see if a tooth had finally broken through, (I seriously feel like he has been drooling for about 3 months and was wondering the entire time if a tooth was coming) and finally, yes he actually has both bottom teeth now. On that same day, I had a work meeting to go to, so I left the kids with my sister-in-law for an hour. When I came back to pick him up, he was army crawling around . . . what? When did that happen? Wesley also learned to finally get back into the sitting position after laying on his back or belly. Now, I don't have to go pick him up and put him on his bum all the time. My little man is growing up so fast. Now if he could learn to NOT crawl and put his head in small places, then I wouldn't have to bail him out all the time when he is stuck.

Random Pictures

Since I haven't been wonderful at posting during the last 2 months, here are some pictures of random happenings in our lives.

Wesley Obama waving to his supporters.
Rafael creating a sled park in our front yard. I guess he at least made good use of the HUGE mound of snow. The neighborhood kids loved it, but we did have to have a look out for cars, because he kind of sent it straight into the street. We are great parents, . . . I know.
My two kiddos, actually looking happy to be with each other, or should I say Wesley is actually happy and not screaming because he is scared for his life. Lydia really is a great big sister, just loves a little too much sometimes.
Wesley apparently enjoying his sock! Yum!

Ready for church. I guess Lydia felt the need to pose, . . . not uncommon.

Slacker . . . I know.

Yeah, so I have not been good in the last little while, about keeping up with my blog, but for a good reason. I started working as a Realtor with Zip Realty and it has kept me very busy for the last 4 weeks. I am really enjoying the job and have been able to take out several clients in the last week to view homes. I'm hoping to write my first offer this weekend. So, I will try to keep up a little better, now that I am getting the hang of things. Of course I've got to plug myself . . . know anyone that wants to buy or sell a home in Utah? Send them my way!
