My Birthday

Look at this cake! Rafael and Lydia decided to make me a cake this year for my birthday and I have to say they did a great job. Rafael baked the cake with Lydia's help and then Lydia decorated the cake. She was so proud of the cake, and I think she should be. It tasted wonderful too. Lydia has mentioned that she wants to be a "baker" when she grows up so maybe she has a future in that.

My Little Ballerina

Lydia has wanted to try out dance for awhile now. She doesn't walk around the house anymore, she dances and cartwheels and flips around the house, so I decided it was time. For her birthday we bought some new dance outfits and tap shoes for dance. As soon as she started her class she loved it. I just might have a dancer on my hands, and I REALLY don't know what to do with that.

Hmmm . . .

Wow, how long has been since I blogged, let me answer that FOREVER! New goal, update once a week. Not sure if it is possible, but I'm going to try.
On to what prompted the post . . . Lydia. She walks up to me and says I know how to spell "pee" (like going the bathroom). Granted she was watching Super Why on TV and they were spelling words, so I think that is the root of this. She says, it is spelled P-E-Y-A. Wait, an "A" at the end. Has she thought pee was really peya with an a sound at the end of the word her whole life? I must be an excellent Mom not to have taught her at least the basics! Oh well, I'm sure there will be plenty more of these moments to come.

My 6 Year Old

Lydia turned 6 on April 5th. She was so excited to turn 6 and she kept saying how much bigger and older she was now. She is such a sweet girl and loves her family very much. She loves to draw, do puzzles, be "girly" (as you will see later, she had to wear makeup to her party . . . oh boy)and just be creative. I guess she takes a lot after me, except the sweet part, I don't know where she got that. She loves her little brother, but I'm not sure he always loves the attention.

So this year she requested a rainbow party. Rainbows, . . . okay. We went to the party store and luckily found some untraditional rainbow colors that she loved. With this theme in mind I decided to do rainbow cupcakes. They were a little work but turned out really great. Here are some pictures from the party.

Weekend with nothing to do . . . why not go to the horse show?

The title pretty much sums it up . . . plus we had free tickets.

Back Surgery

Rafael has had back problems for quite awhile. I think it was a combination of all the sports, and crazy stuff he does along with 3 car accidents that did him in. It finally got so bad that he needed surgery. So on January 31st he went in for surgery, to get an artificial disk put in his back. Interestingly, to put the disk in, they went through the front, so now we have matching "C-Section" scars. It was a rough few days at the hospital and at home in the beginning but he recovered quickly.

Grandma Montero came to help out and be with Rafael for his surgery. The kids loved that Grandma came to visit.

Summer Continued

So yes, I am still trying to catch up on our Summer activities now that fall is here. We had a lot of fun this summer, starting with a visit from Grandma and Grandpa Knudsen.

Wesley loves being outside and helping Grandpa.
Every Summer we attend Fort Herriman Days as well as the parade. The kids loves it and this year was not different.

One of the main reasons they love the parade is the candy . . .
and of course playing with their friends!
We also made a trip to Gardner Village with Grandma and Grandpa to feed the ducks.
Wesley playing with Molly. He loves her and wants to feed her all day long.
Of course no summer is complete without a trip to the Zoo.

Everyone has to take a picture at the water fountain right?
As you can tell, this is me trying to take a picture of Wesley on the "fun" playground at the zoo, and him just not enjoying it in the least.
One of the reasons we had to go this summer was to see the new baby elephant Zuri.

On the train ride.

Enjoying the backyard with Grandma and Grandpa.

Wesley's 2nd Birthday

Wesley turned 2 in June and or course we had a party to celebrate. Wesley loves all cars, trucks and motorized vehicles so we went for a "Cars" theme.

I made a cake just for him to dig into and I must say, he at a lot of it. I'm surprised he didn't throw up later.

Here are the cupcakes for everyone else.

Enjoying his cake.

You are an awesome little boy, and we love you so much! All he has to do is smile and show those dimples and he will melt your heart.

Time has passed me by

I haven't posted in two months! I really need to get my act together! So here begins a long string of posts to catch up. Here are a few pictures of the kids back in June.

My little guy with his long curls (future post coming about his hair)

Lydia posing for the camera.

June is the month of rodeos for Herriman and the fact that Rafael works for the city gets us into all of them free. The kids love it. Another perk, free snacks. This is Wesley enjoying his first cotton candy, which he just licked and wouldn't eat.

Me and my little man.

This rodeo Rafael was able to get some tickets for some friends (The Coombs) so they joined us. Here are the four kids enjoying the rodeo.

Checking out the animals up close.
